SDS moves to T-Center, St. Marx
Software Daten Service, April 2006"A company of this size cannot be moved overnight. This has been clear right from the beginning,” said Alexander Strobl, manager of the relocation project, summarising the activities of the last few weeks and months. “The challenge here is to remain available to our customers, to keep idle time as low as possible and to reduce failure and security risks to a minimum." SDS’ 250 employees, their equipment, 380 machines, 35 servers as well as storage, network and AIX systems and a large number of cardboard boxes must be relocated. A 9-man team is coordinating the relocation, helping 30-40 employees to move every day and ensuring that SDS is fully integrated into the T-Center within one week, both technically and in terms of staff. The technical infrastructure of SDS will be available in both locations during relocation. Only the highest technical standards in terms of network and security technology as well as power supply can ensure that the project runs smoothly: both locations have a complete network and telephone system. An employee who leaves the Millennium Tower in the evening can start work at his new workstation the following morning in the T-Center. He will be provided with an access card in order to be able to enter the T-Center, where he will find the PC which he packed in a box the night before and which is ready for use at his new workstation. His telephone number will also remain the same and will be working when he arrives the following morning. Most importantly, however, SDS’s customers will hardly notice a thing, apart from a short period during the night when the Customer Support Site will be down. This will ensure uninterrupted, prompt and – as ever – high quality communication with the customer during the move. The only giveaway that the company has moved will be the new postal address. |
